As the season comes to an end, all of us at Bakersfield Northwest Baseball want to thank you for a successful year. After being down due to the pandemic, we came back strong for the love of baseball. We wouldn't be here today without your continued support. We have so many to thank but would like to start with Jean Walters our amazing snack bar manager of many years and Nicole for keeping the burgers and snacks flowing.
Next up is the man who arrives each morning by 6am and usually leaves late in the evening. Bull our grounds supervisor keeps our park looking amazing. It's not easy to maintain an old facility like ours, and he does it without any complaints. Ok maybe a few..lol But honestly thanks Bull for your commitment to the park and how it looks each day!
We want to thank all our umpires for the hard work and dedication each game and to Jack Queen our umpire chief who does an amazing job scheduling and keeping our umpires updated on the rules.
I also would like to thank Tammie Gerecke our league president! She hates recognition, but she deserves it! Unless you have been in her shoes, you will never understand what it really takes to keep a league of 800 kids going. Yes we have our ups and downs, but after 16 years at this league I can honestly say we couldn't ask for a better leader. Tammie does what she does because she loves baseball and she loves all of your kids as if they were her own!
Finally a big thank you to all our coaches! Some of you even took multiple teams and we thank you. Without our coaches we would not be able to play the game we love.
All of us at Bakersfield Northwest Baseball hope to see you in the Fall!
Kevin Charette-Northwest Baseball Vice President
We had a lot of fun this year hosting League of Dreams at Northwest Baseball. A league that started many years ago at our park for those with minor and severe disabilities has grown to over 300 and a league of its own. They are amazing and looking to grow. If you would like to volunteer or would like more information on programs they offer go to www.ourleagueofdreams.com
Thanks American Business Machines for all the help with our internet network at Northwest Baseball.
WE HOPE TO HAVE OUR GAME CAMS BACK SOON, WE ARE UPGRADING!
**Northwest Baseball has gone high tech! If you have loved ones who won't be able to make the tournament, we have you covered! If your team plays on fields 5,6,7,8 they will be live each day. The fee to watch the games is FREE, but donations are accepted on the camera page and helps with our streaming costs! All you have to do is go to the LIVE CAM tab at the top of our website and select your field.
*NOTE: We will not take calls or emails about plays you may disagree with on our feeds, the umpires are the last call!!
Thanks for joining us at Northwest Bakersfield Baseball!
SCOREBOARDS WILL BE DOWN FOR REPAIR!
We ask that only adults operate them. They are $900 each to replace. Watch the video and it will walk you step by step on how to use the controller. When your game is over please return and plug the controller in the room behind the bathrooms. You will see a table where they are stored. Good luck this Spring.
We are proud and excited for our newest NL CY YOUNG winner Corbin Burnes. Corbin grew up in Bakersfield, and played all his younger years at Bakersfield Northwest Baseball. His dad Rick Burnes served as a board member and coached many years at the park. But it was a family affair, his mom Kandi Burnes also spent many hours at the park helping run our many tournaments. Again congratulations to Corbin on this major accomplishment in his career!
THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR GENEROUS PARTNERS
