COACHES CORNER

INFORMATION 2024-2025

  • Games are schedule to begin on September 8, 2024 for our Fall league. We will have a 10 game season

  • Uniforms will be ordered after the division drafts and will be handed out on or before our league starts.

  • Northwest now has player agents. The role of these individuals is to make sure all divisions are following league and Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth rules. They are here to answer parent and coach questions throughout the season. If we don't know, we can't improve. You can find contact information for Stan Thompson and JJ Toledo under board members on our website

  • All coaches will be required to attend a coaches clinic at Northwest Baseball before the season starts. The clinic will be given by North High coach Stan Thompson. Stan has over 20 years of coaching experience and has attended several coaching clinics around the country. This clinic will help new coaches and even those who have been coaching a while learn new skills they can pass on to their players.

  • Each team will be required to assign 8 volunteers over the age of 13 in the snack bar once in the season. If a team doesn't sign up or show for a time slot they will lose 2 points in the standings at the end of Fall ball. If a team doesn't show for snack bar duty in our Spring league, teams will not be eligible to participate in playoffs.

  • Teams are required to provide a team sponsor each season of $400. We have so many amazing businesses in town who would love to help with just a phone call about the league and your player. If a team doesn't obtain a sponsor they will lose 2 points in standings at end of season. The sponsorship helps pay for uniforms and other league expenses.

ALL COACHES MUST COMPLETE SEXUAL ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING AND A BACKGROUND CHECK PRIOR TO OPENING DAY. IF YOU HAVE A CURRENT SEXUAL ABUSE TRAINING CERTIFICATE YOU CAN UPLOAD IT TO YOUR ANKORED PROFILE WHEN IT'S CREATED. BACKGROUND CHECKS ARE GOOD FOR 2 YEARS AND 10 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE TRAINING. IF THIS ISN'T COMPLETED BY SEPTEMBER 8th, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE FIELD.

Background & Abuse Training is good for 2 season.

If you did it in Fall of 2023 your next renewal is Fall 2025.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS A COACH

Coaching at all levels involves much more than making out a lineup, hitting infield/outfield, throwing batting practice, or coaching third base.  Coaching involves accepting the responsibility you face when parents put their children into your care.  As a coach, you will be called to do the following:

  • Provide a safe physical environment

  • Communicate in a positive way

  • Teach the fundamental skills of baseball

  • Teach the rules of baseball

  • Direct players in competition

  • Help your players become fit and value fitness

  • Help young people develop character

  • Be respectful to your players, parents, coaches, and umpires! Remember, these are the responsibilities you volunteered for as a coach.

Remember, these are the responsibilities you volunteered for as a coach. Every player is an individual. You must provide a wholesome environment in which every player has the opportunity to learn how to play the game without fear while having a fun and enjoying the overall baseball experience.
