Coaches

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS A COACH

Coaching at all levels involves much more than making out a lineup, hitting infield/outfield, throwing batting practice, or coaching third base.  Coaching involves accepting the responsibility you face when parents put their children into your care.  As a coach, you will be called to do the following:

Provide a safe physical environment

Communicate in a positive way

Teach the fundamental skills of baseball

Teach the rules of baseball

Direct players in competition

Help your players become fit and value fitness

Help young people develop character

Be respectful to your players, parents, coaches, and umpires

Remember, these are the responsibilities you volunteered for as a coach.  Every player is an individual.  You must provide a wholesome environment in which every player has the opportunity to learn how to play the game without fear while having a fun and enjoying the overall baseball experience.

GET YOUR BABE RUTH LEAGUE/RIPKEN BASEBALL COACHING CERTIFICATION

BABE RUTH LEAGUE COACHING EDUCATION CENTER

There is no one single action that can have more of a positive impact on our players than improving the quality and knowledge of our managers and coaches. Managers and coaches are the ones who spend the most time interacting with our participants and the ones who can make a child's experience in youth sports fun and memorable. Therefore, it is vital for youth coaches to be properly trained to focus more on the child's baseball and softball experience and less on winning games.

With this in mind, the Babe Ruth League/Ripken Baseball Coaching Certification Program was developed. Under the program, all baseball and softball coaches must complete coaching education and certification.

The Babe Ruth League/Ripken Baseball Coaching Certification Program consists of the following online courses:

  • Coaching Youth Baseball: The Ripken Way for Babe Ruth Baseball Coaches
  • Coaching Youth Softball: The Ripken Way for Babe Ruth Softball Coaches
  • Coaching Advanced Baseball: The Ripken Way for Babe Ruth Baseball Coaches
  • Coaching Advanced Softball: The Ripken Way for Babe Ruth Softball Coaches

Babe Ruth League, Inc. and Ripken Baseball, Inc. exclusively endorse these online courses, developed by Human Kinetics Coach Education. Coaches who successfully pass the Babe Ruth League Coaching Education and Certification Program will receive a certification that is valid for their entire coaching career with Babe Ruth League, Inc

Northwest Baseball Heat Guidelines

NW Bakersfield Baseball has set some new Heat Guidelines that we will be using for practices at this time. We will address game days each day as well as we move forward. The following guidelines are effective immediately, all practices for today will be canceled based on these guidelines.

AQI (Air Quality Index) 175-200 or with Temperatures 105 and below – Coaches are ok to have practice but with caution. Players should be given water breaks at least every 10-15 minutes or more often for any kids needing it.

AQI (Air Quality Index) 200 and above or Temperatures 106 and above all practices will be canceled at the NW Bakersfield Baseball Complex for the whole day.

Even with these guidelines all Coaches and Parents need to use common sense, if you see any kids struggling at any time please take a break.

The league will post on our website each day about closures.
