Northwest Baseball Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Q:  Where are the tryouts?
A:  At Sam Lynn Ballpark, 4009 Chester Ave.
  2. Q: How will registering online save me time?
A:  If you register online and your child does not need to tryout (if your child is less than 8 years old) you do not need to come to tryouts at all.  If you register online and your child does need to tryout, you will still normally be able to save time at the actual tryout by registering online. Please bring the printout of your registration to tryout.
  3. Q:  Do I need to bring a birth certificate to tryouts?
    A:  No.
  4. Q:  When will I know what team/league my child will be on, who his coach will be and when practices are?
A:  Your child will be placed on a team and the coach of that team should contact you by phone with that information within a few days after the final tryout.  (we will not know that information in advance).  You may also check on the NW Baseball web site (
www.nwbaseball.org) a week or so following the final tryout using the 'Find Name(s)' feature near the top left hand corner of the home page.  If you have not heard from a coach by a week following the final tryout and you cannot find your child on our web site, please do contact us (see contact information at bottom).
  5. Q:  When will the games be?
A:  The season starts Saturday, March 10.   Dates and times of all games should be online by the time you receive a call from your coach, or soon thereafter.  Your coach may also distribute copies of the team schedule at a pre-season practice.
  6. Q:  What will my child get included with the registration fee?
A:  A hat, jersery and a free drink after every game (baseball pants and socks included for spring ball only).
  7. Q:  Where do I send payment (for those who have not paid online)?
A:  Northwest Bakersfield Baseball, 9720 Brimhall Rd., Bakersfield, CA  93312.  Payments must be made at the same time as registration.
  8. Q:  What about refunds?
A:  No refunds will be made after the first day of the season (Saturday, March 10).
  9. Q:  Can my child be placed on the same team as my neighbor/friend.
A:  It is the policy of Northwest Baseball not to honor requests of this type.  If you feel you need to be an exception to this policy, send an email with names and dates of birth of the players involved to info@nwbaseball.org.
  10. Q:  I am interested in being a coach, how does that work?
A:  Make sure to select the 'I am interested in coaching' option when signing up your player, or send an email to coaches@nwbaseball.org. Note:  All coaches and assistant coaches must have have current fingerprint check before assuming their duties (recently performed NWB fingerprinting may suffice) and will be responsible to find a team sponsor.
  11. Q:  Will there be a pre-season tournament this season?
    A:  No.
  12. Q:  Are big barrel bats or metal cleats allowed?
A:  Metal cleats are only allowed for Prep players (13+). Big barrel bats are allowed for Prep and travel leagues.
  13. Q:  I am interested in sponsoring a team or making some other kind of donation to NW Baseball, how do I do that?
    A:  Contact Eddie Morales (332-6653,
